Reaching out to Heather Lindsey meant there was a possibility that my email would get lost and never be seen among the tons of other emails she must receive, or worse, she would reply to graciously decline my Q&A. However, Heather agreed to be featured but more importantly, she was super kind in her answers as you’ll read below!
For those who don’t know her, you’ll quickly learn that she’s a gal on the go as a busy mom to two children, wife to Pastor Cornelius Lindsey of The Gathering Oasis in Atlanta, and founder of the Pinky Promise organization.
She’s known for her straight-forward talk about relationships, among other reasons of course, which is how I found out about her on social media. If I’m being honest, one of her posts came up on my Instagram popular page feed, in which she spoke about getting over feeling rejected by men, to which I thought, “Who is she and how is she speaking to my soul right now?!”
As if life couldn’t be more busier for Heather, she spends her time writing books, speaking at conferences, squeezing in travel time, and coming up with vegetarian recipes, because she’s all about that clean eating life.
Read on to learn more about the reason why she’s dedicated to helping young women, her vulnerable confession involving a tender moment with her husband, and more.
Your platform draws in young women who appreciate your authentic approach when giving encouragement. Do you think you would have the same appeal if you didn’t keep it as real as you do?
I believe that it’s important to be real and transparent as much as possible because people can feel when things are fake. The enemy tries to make you feel ashamed or hide certain things to make you “appear” better to men, but Revelation 12:11 states that people are overcome by your testimony. It’s your “issues” and your “mess” that sets people free. I love to share what I have been through so others will not walk in the same mistakes that I have made and because I want my sisters to walk in the fullness that God has for them.
List 3 things every woman should be:
1. One who follows Jesus
2. One who refuses to be jealous or bitter
3. One who is beautiful on the inside-out!
Singleness is a topic you discuss quiet often in conferences and it’s part of the core message behind your Pinky Promise organization. But as a married woman, how do you stay relevant to single women and why do you have such a soft spot for them?
Oh gosh, my struggle when I was single was putting my identity and worth in men, which caused so much unnecessary hurt and soul ties in my life. I’m so passionate about this area and I want my sisters to get it because you become whole when you are truly satisfied and content in Christ.
Single women should be focused on developing the fruits of the spirit instead of developing wedding venue and color ideas with no mates in prospect. Because if you aren’t content with yourself when you get married and are full of worry and fear in each season, your marriage will feel burdened down, but we are called to be a help meet.
I love to wake up a little earlier to stare at my husband’s face. I just love his face! (*insert stalker emoji here*)
Give us a little snippet of the marriage-focused book, “Fighting Together,” you and your husband will release this month.
“I’ve sat with couples that have been together for years, but they feel like they’re just roommates. This is because they’ve shared a bed, they’ve shared their bodies, but they’ve never shared their hearts. Their house is intertwined, but their hearts are far from one another.”
Your next vacation spot:
We have been so busy, we haven’t even started planning our next vacation yet! However, anything with a beach and palms trees is a win for me!
